Mu Sigma Recruitment Process 2018 for Freshers

The selection process for any job profile is an important step for every company to get prospective candidates well suited for the job. It should be done with proper strategic planning. Mu Sigma, founded by Dhiraj Rajaram, is an Indian Mangement firm that is well-known for its analytical services. The name Mu and Sigma derive from mu(μ) meaning 'mean' and sigma(σ) meaning 'standard deviation'. It has its headquarters in Bengaluru, India and a branch office in Chicago, United States. It is a decision-science company that helps clients accelerate their journey from data to decision. It has more than 3,500 employees. It raised its first income around $30 million from FTVentures. Mu Sigma Selection Process

The selection process consists of six rounds

  1. Written exam
  2. Video Synthesis
  3. Pseudo code and Case Study
  4. Group discussion
  5. Technical Interview
  6. HR Interview

Academic Criteria:

  • A candidate should be an engineering graduate from any recognized University.
  • A candidate must have a minimum of 60% marks in graduation.
  • Maximum of 2 backlogs is permitted at the time of appearing for Mu Sigma selection process.

Mu Sigma Written Exam:

The written exam consists of four sections-Quantitative Aptitude & Logic Reasoning, Verbal ability, Critical Thinking, and Personality Profile. The time allotted for the written exam is 50 minutes. It has 0.5 negative marking in three sections except in personality profile. The total questions in the written exam are 55 questions. The candidates who qualify the written exam will qualify for the next rounds.

Quantitative Ability: The questions are based on Data Interpretation, Speed & Distance, Algebra, Equations, Progression, Profit & Loss, Ratios, Averages, Geometry

Logic Reasoning: The questions are based on Attention to Details, Visual Reasoning, Relationship (Blood Relations), Flowcharts, Logical Reasoning, Statement & Conclusions.

Verbal Ability:  The questions are based on Grammar, Vocabulary (Synonyms, Antonyms), Sentence Correction, Prepositions, Idioms and Phrases, Speech and Tense, Fill in the blanks and Reading Comprehension.

Critical Thinking: The questions are based on Visual thinking and Visual Representation.

Personality Profile: It consists of 20 questions.

The first round even consists of Essay writing where you will be given a picture and you need to write an essay related to the given picture.

Video Synthesis:

In this round, the test is based on Listening and Grasping Skills. A video will be shown and you need to summarize it. Video Synthesis means to analyze the video and note the important points described in the video (you will be provided with a piece of paper to write the short and crisp points). We have to identify the keywords present in the video. For practising, watch the videos from Conduira Online's channel.

Pseudo Code and Case Study:

This round consists of a written test. The time allotted for this round is 30 minutes. A Pseudo Code will be provided and you have to write the output along with the steps in rough work. Candidate should be proficient in C-language.

In Case Study, a situation is given and based on the situation, some questions would be asked. Read the case properly and patiently to arrive at logical conclusions to be able to answer the set of questions.

Group Discussion:

It involves the ideas and skills of the candidate. The topic does not matter in this round. Being an initiator will be the first impression for the person during the interview. Listening is very important in this round. Most of the people are good speakers, not good listeners. Just you have to catch the point and proceed in a good way. The candidate has to speak fluently in a way that everyone can understand. The last and important thing is 'conclusion'. The conclusion should be in a way that should describe the summary of the topic given.

Technical round:

It involves the technical knowledge that you have learned during your graduation. In the Technical round, some subjects are included that are C, Java, DBMS etc. Other than these three programming languages, one has to prepare on two subjects based on one's branch. In certain cases, the interview panel people will ask you

HR round:

The candidate who qualified the above rounds will qualify for the Interview process. L&T Eligibility Criteria for Freshers 2018

The L&T can also be known as Laursen & Toubro. L&T is one of the topmost recruiters in India so it is imperative for the aspirants to know the company's eligibility criteria. This blog will acquaint the candidates (freshers) with L&T selection policies, graduation criteria, academic criteria and documents needed for applying posts like Entry Level Engineer.

Graduation Criteria:

Only full-time courses will be considered (Part Time/Correspondence courses will not be considered).

1) B.E / B-Tech in any discipline (CSE/ECE/IT/EEE/TELECOM/M.E/EIE/IE/IS  etc).

2) M.E/M.Tech Candidates are eligible to apply.

3) Engineering candidates who have passed out in the year 2018 & 2017 are eligible to apply.

4) The graduation should be a full-time course recognized by Central/State Government of India.

Please note that a candidate is expected to have good communication & interpersonal skills, along with a good command of technical subjects.

Academic Criteria:

1) A candidate must have more than 60% marks in 10th and 12th (or diploma).

2) A candidate must have a minimum of 60% marks in graduation.

3) The candidate should not have any gap after HSC (12th) and SSC(10th) or in between semesters of graduation.

4) A candidate should not have any pending backlogs at the time of appearing for L&T selection process.

L&T policies:

1) If a candidate has attended an interview within the past 6 months from the date of the new application, then he/ she is ineligible to apply.

2) If a candidate has been rejected by L&T in an interview, then the candidate is ineligible to apply again for a period of 6 months after the interview.

3) If for some reason  L&T has terminated the candidate's application, then the candidate is ineligible to apply. 

4) If for any reason a candidate after applying in  L&T, misses the opportunity to give the interview then the candidate holds the right to apply again and can attend the selection process.

Documents required:

1) All original mark sheets related to SSC (10th), Intermediate (12th) and Graduation are required to be produced at the time of interview. Also, please carry a copy of all documents at the time of interview.

2) A copy of the candidate's updated resume.

3) Passport size photographs.

4) An original identification proof issued by the government of India (Aadhar Card, Pan Card, Voter id, Passport etc.)

CTS Written exam consists of two sections -  Analytical Ability and Verbal Ability. The Analytical ability has 16 Quantitative and 14 Reasoning ability questions that are to be attempted in 30 minutes. The Verbal ability has 25 questions to be attempted in 20 minutes. CTS Aptitude Sample Question 1: Arun buys an old bicycle for Rs. 470 and spends Rs. 80 on its repairs. If he sells the bicycle for Rs. 580, his gain percent is:

A. 3.75%

B. 6.10%

C. 4.25%

D. 5.45%

Answer: D


Cost Price (C.P.) = Rs. (470 + 80) = Rs. 550.

Selling Price (S.P.) = Rs. 580.

Gain = (S.P.) - (C.P.) = Rs.(580 - 550) = Rs. 30.

Now Gain%= (Gainx100)/C.P.= (30x100) /550= 5.45%

CTS Aptitude Sample Question 2: A man is 23 years older than his son. In three years, his age will be twice the age of his son. What is the present age of his son?

A.19 years

B.21 years

C.23 years

D.20 years

Answer: D


Let the present age of the son =x years

Then, the present age the man =(x+23) years


in three years man's age will be twice the age of his son

'Exodus' means to a mass departure of people

Hence, the antonym of 'exodus' is 'influx' which means an arrival or entry of a large number of people/things.

CTS Aptitude Sample Question 5: Identify the error in the following sentence.

The Principal of the college/ and the senior most chemistry faculty/ is on leave today.

a. The Principal of the college

b. and the senior chemistry faculty

c. is on leave today.

d. No error

Answer: c) is on leave today

According to the agreement of the verb with the subject in a sentence, if the article is used only once as in ‘The principal of the college and senior most Chemistry faculty is present’, it refers to the same person.

If the article is used twice, it refers to different persons. The sentence given in the question should be corrected as ‘The Principal and the senior most chemistry faculty are on leave today'
