NTT Data Quantitative Aptitude Questions and Answers

This article covers some of the quant question based on the previous year’s pattern related to LCM & HCF, Divisibility, numbers, Profit & Lost, Simple and Compound interest, Time, speed and Distance, log and probability. You can go through the following sample questions to make yourself ready for NTT Data Placement Test.
Directions for Questions 1 to 8: Choose the correct options in the below questions.
1. The ratio of two numbers is 5: 6 and their HCF is 34. Find their LCM.
a) 204
b) 1020
c) 170
d) 510
Explanation:
Let the two numbers be 5X and 6X. Since, their HCF = 34. Therefore, X = 34
We know that, Product of two numbers = HCF X LCM
Therefore, 5 * 34 * 6 * 34 = 34 * LCM  LCM = 1020
The correct answer is Option B
2. When integer “N” is divided by 6, it gives a remainder of 4. What is the remainder when “5N” is divided by 6?
a) 3
b) 2
c) 0
d) 1
Explanation:
Since, when N is divided by 6 it gives the remainder of 4. Number N can be written as:
N = 6k + 4, Now, Multiply N by 5 => 5N = 30k + 20. It can also be written as 6 * (5k) + 18 + 2 => 6 * (5k + 3) + 2
Therefore, new Number N = 6 * (5k + 3) + 2, when it is divided by 6 it leaves remainder 0 for “6 * (5k + 3)” part and 2 remainder for other part. So, total Remainder = 0+2 = 2
The correct answer is Option B
3. What is the sum of numerator and denominator when 0.448 is written in simplest fractional form?
a) 1448
b) 362
c) 724
d) 181
Explanation:
0.448 can be written as 448/1000
A Simplest fractional form is the form in which common factor cannot be taken out further. Therefore, simplest fractional form will be 56/125
The correct answer is Option D
4. When a merchant sold an article for Rs 1105, he incurred a loss of 15 percent. For how much price the article should be sold to get a profit of 25 percent?
a) 1625
b) 1300
c) 1200
d) 1250
Explanation:
Let the cost price of an article is X. So, X – 0.15X = 1105 (Since merchant sold the article at a loss of 15 percent)
Therefore, Cost price X = 1300. Now, to earn a profit of 25 percent Selling price = X + .25X = 1625
The correct answer is Option A
5. A train of length 210 meters and speed 65 Km/hour passes a platform in 45 seconds. Find the length of the platform.
a) 775.24 metres
b) 800 meters
c) 812.75 meters
d) 825 meters
Explanation:
Speed of train = 65 km/hour = (65 * 1000) * 3600 = 18.055 m/sec
Let the length of platform is X. Therefore, (210+X) = 18.055 * 45 [Distance travelled = Speed * Time]X = 812.475 metres
The correct answer is Option C
6. If 8 birds make 8 nests in 8 days. In how many days 1 bird makes 1 nest?
a) 64
b) 4
c) 8
d) 1
Explanation:
Work done in 1 day by 8 birds = number of nest/number of days = 8/8 =>1
Work was done by 1 bird in a day = 1/8
Therefore, the number of days required by 1 bird to make 1 nest = 8 days
Therefore, the correct answer is Option C
7. What is the probability that the sum of the number on faces is 10 when two unbiased dice are rolled?
a) 1/12
b) 1/6
c) 1/18
d) 1/9
Explanation:
Since there are 6 faces on each dice. So, the total number of outcomes = 6 * 6 = 36
Number of total favourable outcomes are {4,6}, {5,5}, {6,4}
Therefore, Probability that Sum of numbers is 10 = 3/36 => 1/12
The correct answer is Option A
